With Deepest Thanks
UCEF recently received two large donations from donor churches. The first was from Blessed Sacrament/St. Vincent de Paul. A gift of $12,000 was given to us so that we could help five more families a month. We are grateful for the ongoing partnership we have with them. For folks in their service area, they match our funds for clients, helping people with utilities and rent in order to stay in their homes.
It is with a sense of bittersweet gratitude that we accepted a check for $50,000 from University Christian Church, after the sale of their building. UCC was one of our founding churches back in 1986. Through the years their congregation has been active leaders in social justice issues. Alas, like so many churches these days, dwindling member numbers and rising costs of maintaining a building of its size caused them to sell. I drive by what is now a vacant lot every day - the 100 plus year sanctuary torn down. The congregation has merged with Lake City Christian Church and continues to do good things. We miss them as our neighbors. And we rejoice in all that this gift will help us do for those in need. Bless you for all your support through the years.
