“Does $100 make a real difference? That was what went through my mind when I was inquiring about a volunteer opportunity with UCEF Director Jo Gustafson. Jo explained the goals of the program, but it wasn’t until I observed first-hand the impact UCEF makes. During my conversation with Jo, a UCEF client dropped by and I had the privilege to observe this moment. “John” received an eviction notice for his $192/month rental. He was humble, tired and looking for help to avoid a bad situation. After a brief questionnaire, UCEF pledged $100 towards John’s rental payment along with other organizations that might be able to assist him with the remaining portion. At that very moment, I witnessed how $100 completely transformed John’s situation and gave him hope. Yes, $100 makes a real difference. ”

How does your donation help? A gift of $250 provides financial assistance for one client to remain in their home. Financial assistance provided by UCEF is directed to rent or utilities, and is paid directly to the utility provider or landlord. For our clients, this donation prevents the very real and damaging effect of becoming homeless for the first time. But it doesn't stop there. We offer a compassionate ear and unwavering support as our clients get back on their feet. Our mission is to provide resources beyond financial assistance to make a real impact in preventing homelessness.
